Popayán is not only a beautiful, historic  city, but also a leading cultural center, home of poets, artists, and authors, birthplace of fifteen presidents of the Republic of Colombia. This  is probably  why its people are such authentic bearers of tradition, culture, and  courtesy.

The city is 5.280 feet above sea level and has an average temperature of 64ºF. The weather is spring-like all year round, but the best  months are November, December, and January. One can get to Popayán by land from Cali, which is to the north, Pasto, to the south, and Neiva, to the West; there is also an excellent airport and regular flights to Bogotá and Guapi.

Popayán, a demás de ser una hermosa ciudad cargada de historia, ha sido siempre un reconocido centro de cultura, hogar de poetas, artistas y literatos, cuna de quince presidentes y tres candidatos a la presidencia de la república.  Quizás por esto son sus gentes portadoras tan auténticas de la más legítima tradición, de admirable cultura y cortesía, amigos de los visitantes, cordiales y buenos conversadores.

La ciudad se halla a 1.760 Mts.  Sobre el nivel del mar; con una temperatura media de 18ºC . mantiene un clima primaveral durante todo el año; sin embargo sus mejores meses son Noviembre, Diciembre y Enero. Se puede llegar por tierra desde Cali, al Norte, Pasto, al Sur, o Neiva, al Oriente; también cuenta con un excelente aeropuerto y rutas aéreas regulares a Bogotá y Guapi.
